Vörðr
Features

What Vörðr does.

Easy to set up

Windows installer

The installer includes ffmpeg, go2rtc and everything else Vörðr needs, and it sets Vörðr up as Windows services that start on boot.

Configured in the app

A setup wizard takes you through storage and cameras, and ONVIF discovery finds the cameras on your network. You never edit YAML or config files.

Desktop, web and mobile

The same interface runs as a Windows desktop app, in any browser, and as a web app you install on your phone.

Runs on basic equipment

Recording without re-encoding

Each camera's stream is written to disk as the camera encoded it, so recording uses very little CPU and keeps the original quality.

Local AI, only when needed

The object detector runs on your own PC, and only when motion needs confirming. You do not need a GPU, although Vörðr will use one if you have it.

Storage that lasts

Every camera records continuously, and events decide what is kept. Footage the AI rejects is released within hours, so your drives hold what matters.

Private

Local recording and AI

Footage stays on your own disks, and detection runs on your own hardware. You do not need an account with us, and Vörðr sends no telemetry.

Remote access without open ports

Reach Vörðr from your phone through Tailscale without opening any ports on your router, or use HTTPS on your own domain.

Sharing you control

Share a clip with a link that is unique to each person and expires, and revoke it at any time. Every export is recorded in the audit log.

Quick to review

A picture of every event

Each event shows the clearest picture of what was detected and what it was, so you can see what happened without playing the clip.

Search in plain English

Type a phrase such as "people at the barn yesterday afternoon" to search the whole archive. The search runs on your PC.

Notifications that matter

Detection notifications are sent only for events the AI confirms. Arming controls notifications, not recording, so cameras keep recording while you are home.

Get started

Try it on your own cameras.

Vörðr is free for up to four cameras, and the installer sets up everything it needs.
